UComm, NSSFO staffers bring home four awards from CASE conference

Western Washington University's Window Magazine came away from the last Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Region XIII conference with a trio of awards. The Window creative team - editor Mary Gallagher, graphic designer Chris Baker, photographer Rhys Logan,  and writers Ron C. Judd, Jemma Everyhope-Roser, and John Thompson - were given its first ever award in the Magazine category, a bronze, for its Mount Baker edition last spring. 

Thompson also won two silver awards for Feature Writing for stories in Window, one for "Editors of the Species" about the work of Huxley's Wayne Landis around the ethics of genetic editing, and another, "The Heights of Climate Science," about John All, director of the Mountain Environments Research Institute.

Gallagher, UComm graphic designer Derek Bryson, photographer Rhys Logan and Kate Stevenson of New Student Services and Family Outreach also won a bronze award in Visual Design for the new NSSFO Family Calendar.

CASE Region XIII's Annual Communications Awards competition encompasses higher education institutions from  Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho as well as Canada's eight Western provinces, and the region is made up of 152 member institutions.
