Two new policies approved

Two new campus policies have been approved. See below for the policy information and dates they became effective.

 

The Faculty Policy on Outside Work has been approved and effective as of June 7, 2023. Below are the highlights of the policy:

  • The policy applies to all University faculty and addresses activities which are outside the scope of a faculty member’s official University duties. See POL-U2100.04 Faculty Policy on Compensated Professional Activities for details surrounding outside activities which are within the scope of a faculty member’s official University duties.
  • Section #3 addresses the internal process for approving outside work and includes information about disclosure requirements.
  • The same section defines the role of the faculty member in seeking approval, the role of the College Dean in granting approval, and the appeals process to the Provost.
  • Section #4 provides information about acceptable use of university resources.

 

The policy on Protecting Payment Card Information has been approved and effective as of June 8, 2023. Below are the highlights of the policy:
 

  • The policy applies to departments currently accepting payment cards (debit/credit cards) from students and customers as a form of payment, and departments that are considering accepting payment cards from students and customers.
  • Departments currently authorized to accept payment cards must have a written PCI Compliance Plan approved by Treasury Services.
  • Departments who are considering accepting payment cards must seek pre-authorization through Treasury Services.
