Take a peek inside WWU's Career Closet - and donate to it if you can!

Do you have a surplus of professional clothing looking for a new purpose? Consider donating to Western's Career Closet.

The WWU Career Closet allows Western students and alumni to “shop” for professional clothing — for free! Originally started as a free student resource within the College of Business & Economics, the Career Closet was relocated to the Career Services Center and expanded this year. To date, over 200 people have visited this space to find clothing for interviews, presentations, networking events, career fairs, and new jobs and internships.  A few recent quotes from visitors:

“College is expensive and a new wardrobe isn’t in many students budgets”  - Mallory

The Career Services Center has given me confidence and experience on how to tackle my next job interview” - Cristal

“This is one of the best resources I’ve seen on campus!  So helpful and deserves more appreciation”  - Natalie

With the myriad of expenses college students and recent graduates have, and the return to in-person engagements, the Career Closet has been a welcome addition to resources that support student success.  Visitors will find an assortment of professional attire including blazers, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes, and accessories.  Everything is free, and items do not need to be returned. Additionally, several departments have hosted the ‘Career Closet on the Go’ — a rack of clothing located in various buildings across campus — so students can more easily access this great resource.

To better meet the increased need, the Career Services Center is actively seeking donations of gently used or new professional clothing, including accessories.  You can visit the Career Services Center to drop-off your donation, or someone on the Career Services Center team can meet you elsewhere on-campus or arrange to meet you in Whatcom or Skagit County to pick up the donation. Tax receipts are available. Please note that donations valued over $5,000 require a professional appraisal prior to donation.
