Sustainability expo Nov. 13 to feature local food, clothing swap, bike tests
"Survival Skills for a Small Planet," a sustainability expo set to take place Nov. 13 on the Western Washington University campus, will showcase sustainable options for food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
Expo highlights:
- Free local food samples: 10 a.m. to noon. Demonstrations and displays will include cooking sustainably on a budget, canning and preserving, and farming.
- Clothing swap: Does your wardrobe need an update? Give us your clean, wearable clothing at the VU lobby from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 6, 10 and 12. For every item of clothing received, you will get one ticket to shop in the MPR from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13.
- Model residence: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See how easy sustainable living can be.
- Carbon-lite bikes to test-ride: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Try riding bikes on our MPR course.
- Open networking with on- and off-campus sustainable resources: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Want to make your clothes more reflective for biking? Interested in food and water rights? Tables from Ragfinery, Growing Veterans and more.
- Prize drawing: Win a box of local vegetables from Growing Washington.
