State Court of Appeals District 1 to visit campus April 16

Panel of appellate judges that will hear oral arguments on real cases during the community visit

Washington State Court of Appeals District 1 will visit Western's Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 in the Fairhaven Auditorium (FA 300 A&B). The Court of Appeals is a panel of appellate judges that will hear oral arguments on real cases during a community visit to Whatcom County.

The Court of Appeals Division 1 supports WWU's mission of community engagement and civic education. While at Western, the court will hear three cases that affect all Washington State residents. The court's visit allows students to actively participate and witness, in person, the legal system and the participants within the system, their interactions and their roles.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions from the justices and engage in educational conversations about the impact of the law, the legal systems, and the court system.
