Sculpture moves planned for Sept. 5

On Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 a.m. to  4 p.m., the contractor for the sculpture exchange project will move the sculptures. The contractor expects to complete the move in one day, but work may extend into Sept. 6 if unforeseen circumstances are found. Please use caution around all construction areas.

  • South College Drive will be closed from Bill McDonald Parkway to the Fairhaven access driveway.
  • The Fairhaven Ridge pedestrian path will also be closed between Buchanan Towers and the Fairhaven Bridge near the Child Development Center playground.
  • The sidewalk on the west side of South College Drive will remain open.
  • Parking lots 12G, 18R, and C will be accessible from the north by turning onto South College Drive from West or East College Way.
  • The section of parking lot 12G located on the closed south section of South College Drive will not be accessible.
  • Roadways to Harrington Field, the tennis courts, and the softball field will be closed to vehicle traffic.

On North Campus:

  • The area around the sculptures will be fenced off, with signs to indicate pedestrian detours.
  • High Street will be closed intermittently with a flagger directing traffic.
  • Moving the sculptures may cause some traffic delays. The expected route is on Highland Drive and West College Way but may need to be changed for traffic safety due to rigging limitations on the sculptures.
