Save the Date: 'A Day of Learning and Community Building' with the Office of Equity on May 8
Students, faculty, and staff are all invited to A Day of Learning and Community Building, a time for us to gather, to collectively explore and practice building community at Western.
The day-long conference will offer attendees concurrent sessions on community-building practices, identity exploration, navigating conflict and controversial conversations, and well-being, among many others. Attendees will be welcome to attend one or all of the events during this conference. Chief Diversity Officer Jacqueline Hughes will also share a draft institutional ADEI plan and framework that will guide WWU's work in this space.
Detailed information about the session topics and registration will be sent shortly. Stay tuned and mark your calendars for A Day of Learning and Community Building at the Viking Union on May 8.
“Community building is a diverse group of people working together to cultivate an environment that is cohesive, equitable, fair, just, and inclusive, where there is a culture and climate of belonging that values human worth and dignity for all.” Allen, et. al (2021).
