Red Square pavers project set for completion on Sept. 27

Installation of pavers in Red Square will continue through Wednesday, Sept. 27, but an eight-foot-wide section of the new ramp will be open by Monday, Sept. 25, ahead of the Fall Info Fair. The work was originally scheduled for completion on Sept. 22, but unforeseen challenges have extended the project, which is installing a ramp to transition from Red Square to the path below.

The Central Campus Walkway and ADA Improvements project is improving ADA access and removing trip hazards in Red Square, in the PAC Plaza, and near the entrance to the Performing Arts Center. The ramp in Red Square will allow everyone to travel the same path south from Red Square, creating a more direct, shared route.

The new path and ramp at the PAC will align with the curb cut and the crosswalk on High Street to make the route between the PAC Plaza and Wilson Library more accessible and easier to follow. The project is part of an ongoing effort to make our historic campus more accessible, inclusive, and equitable.
