'Palestine, War, and Academic Freedom' teach-in set for 4 p.m. on Jan. 30

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a teach-in titled "Palestine, War, and Academic Freedom" from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Miller Hall 138.

The discussion panel includes Professor of Political Science Shirin Deylami, Assistant Professor of History Dan Chard, Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies Ceci Lopez, and Asch Qattawi from the Arab Students Association.

The panel will discuss the context of escalating violence in Gaza, review the historical background on the repression of activism in solidarity with Palestine in the 20th- and 21st-century United States, and give an overview of academic freedom at WWU. The second half of the teach-in includes a workshop-style discussion for participants to share ideas on how members of the WWU community can advance peace, justice, and academic freedom.
