OSU's Kathleen Bogart to present 'How Disability as a Social Identity Protects Against Ableism' on Nov. 6

On Thursday, Nov. 6, Professor Kathleen Bogart from Oregon State University will visit WWU to present her research related to disability and ableism in a free public talk open to the university community. 

Bogart's talk will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Academic West 210 or via Zoom; she will discuss how disability as a social identity protects against ableism. This event is co-hosted by WWU's Center for Cross-Cultural Research, Psychology Department, and Foundation for WWU and Alumni. 

Bogart is a psychology professor and disability advocate who co-founded the Disability Advocacy and Research Network (DARN) for psychologists who have and/or specialize in disability. She conducts research related to disability prejudice, rare disorders and facial differences, and disability community-building and pride.
