Open forum with preferred presidential candidate scheduled for noon Tuesday

Sabah Randhawa, the preferred candidate to become the 14th president of Western Washington University, will visit Western's Bellingham campus Monday and Tuesday, April 4 and 5. Details were contained in a message sent to the Western campus Friday from the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

"The next step in the selection process is a critically important one, and we encourage you to participate in it," Lee and Sharpe write.

Tuesday's forum is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. Randhawa will make opening comments and will then take questions from the audience. The event will be live-streamed on video at https://wp.wwu.edu/live/. Feedback will be taken via email until 2:30 p.m. that day. Various other groups will be holding individual meetings with Randhawa Monday and Tuesday and have sent out individual invitations. The groups Randhawa will be meeting with are the Associated Students Board of Directors, WWU Faculty Senate, United Faculty of Western Washington, Professional Staff Organization, the Public School Employees, the Washington Federation of School Employees, WWU vice presidents, WWU Deans Council and the WWU Foundation and WWU Alumni Association. Randhawa also will be meeting with a group representing the Diversity Task Force.

The Board of Trustees will receive feedback Tuesday afternoon from the representatives of the PSAC who host the respective group meetings in addition to reviewing the feedback that comes into the Presidential Search website after the open forum. The Trustees will then hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Room 340 of Old Main. They will move immediately into closed executive session and go into open session at approximately 5:30 p.m. to vote on the preferred candidate. This meeting will be audiocast live.
