Climber to share how 'grit' aids in everyday life

Dave Mauro, one of 65 Americans to climb the highest mountain summit on each of the world's seven continents, will speak on grit and determination Wednesday, May 21, on the Western Washington University campus.

At the event, Mauro will share a multimedia presentation and then engage with students in a group conversation about persistence.

The event is sponsored by the Associated Students, the Outdoor Center, University Residences and Western's Leadership Advantage program.

Besides being an outstanding climber, Mauro is a financial planner, student of improvisational comedy, father and philanthropist. He will share with students how climbing increases grit so that goals can be achieved in any setting.

The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. May 21 in Artnzen Hall Room 100. Complimentary pizza will be given to those present during the 5 p.m. hour.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact WLA LEADS at 360-650-4190 or wlaleads@wwu.edu.
