Multicultural Center construction Update: May 29
Multicultural Center construction activities for the next several weeks:
Safety
- To address safety concerns, the area around the construction site will be designated as a bicycle/skateboard dismount zone. Bicyclists, skateboarders and pedestrians must use the sidewalks. Appropriate signage will be installed in early June. Please continue to use caution in this area.
Demolition
- Small demolition tasks continue. Last week contractors cut a hole in the 6th floor of the old bookstore for the new staircase that will access the 5th floor, see photo below.
New Construction
- Over the next couple weeks new construction focuses on structural columns, pilasters and footing to support the new addition. The biggest impacts will occur when contractors pour concrete using a pumping truck. There may be odors and additional truck traffic on High Street.
