Multicultural Center construction Update: May 29

Multicultural Center construction activities for the next several weeks:

Safety

To address safety concerns, the area around the construction site will be designated as a bicycle/skateboard dismount zone. Bicyclists, skateboarders and pedestrians must use the sidewalks. Appropriate signage will be installed in early June. Please continue to use caution in this area.

Demolition

Small demolition tasks continue. Last week contractors cut a hole in the 6th floor of the old bookstore for the new staircase that will access the 5th floor, see photo below.

New Construction

Over the next couple weeks new construction focuses on structural columns, pilasters and footing to support the new addition. The biggest impacts will occur when contractors pour concrete using a pumping truck. There may be odors and additional truck traffic on High Street.
