Western volleyball wins conference opener in 5-set thriller

The Western Washington University volleyball team opened Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a thrilling five-set (23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 15-8) victory against Northwest Nazarene at Carver Gymnasium on Thursday.

“It is great,” Western coach Diane Flick-Williams said. “We have a pretty young squad out there and we haven’t had a match at home, so we did a good job riding the nervous wave.”
