Western club offers weekly boxing lessons and community for female and non-binary students for free

Some expect women to be polite, obedient and to curb their anger in their everyday lives. With high expectations placed on women’s standards, it can be challenging for women to express anger and emotions in a healthy manner.

Western Washington University has a student club called WWU Femme Fight Club that offers a safe space for women and non-binary people to have an outlet to express their emotions once a week.

“As a woman, society tells you to be polite and always be nice,” and never get angry, Western senior Sasha Ruvinov said. “It is very magical and healing to get an environment where it is safe to express your anger in a healthy way.”
