Bill Nye Inspires Students to Advocate for Bipartisan Space Funding

Science communicator Bill Nye joined university space science students at the U.S. Capitol during The Planetary Society’s Day of Action on April 20 to advocate for continued federal NASA funding across congressional districts.

Kaitlynn LaCost, Marshall Lowell-Gonzales, and Julia Olson from Western Washington University met with legislative representatives to detail NASA’s economic and educational impacts. The students, who conduct research within the NASA-funded Mars Research Group under Professor Melissa Rice, reported overwhelming bipartisan support for space exploration programs in both chambers of Congress.
