Bellingham’s country dance scene finds its footing

Several other country dance groups in Bellingham have helped foster the scene’s current robustness. Recent graduate Kurtis Johnson served several terms as club president of the Viking Swing club at Western Washington University, helping to grow the original five members to more than 130. He also expanded into the community, starting a swing dance event at the Elk’s Lodge every Thursday.
