Innovation, Tech, and Creative Resources Webpage is Launched
Starting this Fall, Western is making it easier for students, especially our first- and second-year students, to access campus resources available outside of the classroom that may inspire and spark them to explore and innovate. From cutting-edge tech labs to creative maker spaces, students are encouraged to use these to develop entrepreneurial skills, learn new and emerging technologies, explore career paths, and build a sense of community in environments emblematic of life outside the university.
The new Innovation, Tech, and Creative Resources Webpage is designed to serve as a central hub for students eager to make the most of what Western has to offer. Whether they are interested in entrepreneurship, digital design, or simply curious about trying something new, this webpage highlights various on-campus resources that cater to these potential passions. These offerings empower students to grow, innovate, and apply their ideas in real-world applications. (Know of a resource not on this list? Send a note to cebr@wwu.edu.)
For example, did you know there are 3D printers available in two locations on campus? Both the Student Technology Center and the Makerspace have 3D printers for student use for free!
Other key resources featured on the webpage include:
- Makerspace: A creative space where students can experiment with 3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, sewing machines, and more.
- Student Technology Center: Offering high-tech tools like virtual reality headsets, graphic design tools, and podcasting equipment.
- Digital Media Center: For those interested in video production, photography, and digital storytelling.
- Small Business Development Center: A place to refine business ideas and connect with local startup communities and mentors.
By bringing all these resources together in one easily accessible webpage, Western is providing students with a vital roadmap for success, equipping you not only with technical know-how but also with the creative and critical thinking skills needed in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world.
This resource and more to come result from Western’s designation as an Institution of Economic Prosperity by APLU. Learn more about this designation at this link. For more information, contact the Center for Economic and Business Research at cebr@wwu.edu.
