How should Western approach general education? Discussions set for April 13 and 19

General Education Task Force composed of faculty, staff and students at Western Washignton University has explored various institutional approaches to general education and brought forward several ideas to be used as a catalyst in thinking about how the university community wants to work toward strengthening general education at Western. Their report is available here.

Ideas presented by the task force are intended as a starting place to spur conversation from the Western community. Feedback given in response to the report will help determine the ideas, frameworks and general education program models most likely to serve the needs and enjoy the support of the community.

Various feedback mechanisms are planned for spring quarter. Senate and General Education Task Force leadership will be facilitating one-hour collaborative sessions to provide an informational overview alongside space for collaborative thinking about next steps for general education at Western. Students, staff, faculty and administration are invited to attend these sessions. Please RSVP to Kylee.Swift@wwu.edu if you plan to attend.
