History’s Sarah Zarrow publishes ‘Displays of Belonging’

Endowed Professor of Jewish History and Associate Professor of History Sarah Zarrow has published “Displays on Belonging: Polish Jewish collecting and museums” with Cornell University Press.

“Displays of Belonging” explores the ways in which Jews in Poland navigated their Jewish identity, art, and artifacts within the museums and culture of Poland.

“’Displays of Belonging’ is an exploration of how Polish Jews tried to present their case — to Jewish and non-Jewish Poles — that they had a rightful, organic place in Polish society," said Zarrow.

Zarrow focuses her research on Jewish life in Eastern Europe, particularly in Poland. She explores Jewish museum practices, language politics, and schooling.
