Feb. 22 town hall meeting to discuss solar panel project on Environmental Studies building
Western Washington University is working on a project to install a solar panel array on the roof of the Environmental Studies Building on campus.
The project, part of the Green Energy Fee Program, continues the incremental adoption of on-campus solar renewable energy generation by installing a 5 kWh solar array on the building's south-facing roof.
A town hall meeting will be held at noon Feb. 22 in Environmental Studies Room 100 to discuss the project.
The agenda will include a description of the project, a recounting of the construction impacts and safety concerns, a discussion of the student Green Energy Fee Grant Program and options for presenting information on energy production from the panels.
The contractor already has begun running conduits in the building. Exterior solar panel mounting will be done during spring break.
The project manager for this project, officially billed as Public Works Project #643 ES Solar Project, is Jeff Maurer. He can be contacted at (360) 650-3260 or jeff.maurer@wwu.edu.
