Campus input requested on Western's next president

Western Washington University faculty, staff and students are invited to share their thoughts on what Western should be looking for in its next president.

"Your thoughts will inform the trustees and the Presidential Search Advisory Committee about what matters most to the people who are Western, and the kind of leadership we need to build on the university’s strengths in the years ahead," wrote committee chair Sue Sharpe in an email message to campus Thursday.

The survey is now live on the presidential search website. In addition to responses to the specific questions in the survey, the committee also invites any other feedback or thoughts people may have about the search. Those comments may be sent to Presidential.Search@wwu.edu. All feedback will be shared with the Presidential Search Advisory Committee and others involved in the search process.

Several community forums are also planned; they are currently being scheduled for the first week of November. In addition to forums open to all, separate forums for students, faculty, professional and classified staff also will take place, Sharpe said. The search committee will announce the specific days, times and locations of these forums early next week.
