Alpha Technologies hosts Western's outstanding Business and Economics students

Seven outstanding students from Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics were recently hosted by Alpha Technologies, Inc. as part of the college's quarterly Leadership Lunch series.

Alpha Technologies’ executives escorted the students on a comprehensive tour of the facilities in Bellingham and then sat down for a discussion-filled lunch led by Professor Kristi Tyran of Western’s Management Department.

The Alpha Technologies, Inc. executives included P.H. Bhatt, vice president of Engineering; Colette Cole, National Support manager; John Hewitt, vice president of Broadband Sales and Product Management; John O’Rourke, vice president of Finance and Administration; Gary Tremblay, vice president and general manager at Alpha Technologies Services, Inc.; and Product Specialist Kendall Whitney, who received her master’s degree from Western in 2013.

The selection of students representing the College of Business and Economics was based upon faculty input from each department who considered such criteria as academic achievement, student activities and service. Students included Lauren Lyshall (Edmonds), Nic Doherty (Leavenworth), Katie Walvatne (Kenmore), Sean Simmons (Port Angeles), Jasmine Moffatt (Spokane), Kekoa Davidson (Wailuku, Hawaii) and Alix Hamilton (Olympia).

Leadership Lunches are held quarterly and are sponsored by the Center for Innovation in Education. Sandra Mottner, the director of the Center for Innovation in Education and associate dean of the College of Business and Economics, also attended the tour, lunch and discussion.
