A note from EHS on the use of sandwich boards and signage

With the interesting winter weather we are having the Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) would like to remind the campus community of concerns regarding the use of outdoor signs and sandwich boards. Please remember:

  • If you place signs maintain them at least daily and remove them when the need for them is over.
  • Use sand bags or signs with weighted bottoms. Unweighted signs simply don’t stay up in our current weather and signs that blow over can become tripping hazards.
  • Place signs to the side of the main pathway so as not to impede pedestrian traffic flow.
  • Be aware of how your sign might impact a sight-impaired person’s travel on the pathway.
