BELLINGHAMWestern Washington University’s Career Services Center (CSC) is now offering a free, web-based resume builder resource called “Optimal Resume” in order to better assist WWU students and alumni in the current tough job market.

This service will enable students and alumni with an active WWU e-mail account to create, present and manage their resumes online with a series of sophisticated yet easy to use tools. The software also allows users to create a personalized Web site to share with potential employers or to link to from any number of social media sites.

Assistance includes WWU-specific examples and formats, spell checking, action words, and a stylist function to aid in making the resume unique, attractive, and professional.

“We are very pleased to offer this powerful new resource to the Western community,” said Tina Loudon, director of Western’s Academic and Career Development Services.  “’Optimal Resume’ complements the comprehensive list of services we provide to students who are looking to maximize or even clarify their career opportunities.”

The new resource also includes free access to “Efolio.” The electronic file cabinet lets students upload a variety of document types and provide descriptions and viewing requirements for each. This easy-to-use application organizes students' projects in an attractive, easily accessible system to showcase to employers. In the current competitive job market tools like “Efolio” help an individual's work to stand above the rest.

Western’s Career Services Center assists students and alumni with their educational and career goals, and helps to identify career and post-graduate program opportunities. CSC services include:
