Campus announcements

High Street to close in the morning Oct. 3

The contractor working on the remodel of Wilson Library will need to completely close High Street through the WWU campus from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Both lanes will be closed to allow the contractor to hoist some mechanical equipment into the library.

Whatcom Transportation Authority busses likely will be rerouted to pick up and drop off passengers at the foot of the Viking Union on N. Garden Street instead of the usual High Street stops at Haggard Hall and the Viking Union.

Flu shots available on campus beginning Sept. 25

Flu shots will be available on campus beginning Sept. 25.

The cost is $18. WWU staff and faculty members, along with members of their families who are at least 13 years old, must first purchase a ticket at the WWU cashier's office in Old Main Room 245. A ticket must be presented to receive a shot. Any student who receives the shot will have the charge billed to his or her WWU student account.

Fundraiser to feature Sherman Alexie, David James Duncan and Jeffrey Foucalt at PAC Friday

Authors Sherman Alexie and David James Duncan will join musician Jeffrey Foucault at an event benefiting the Liam Wood Flyfishing School to be held at 7 p.m. Friday on the Western Washington University campus.

The event is titled "Salmon worship: Is it wrong?" and is billed as an evening of music and stories with the three men.

The three performers will share the stage, playing music and telling stories back and forth. Funds generated from the event will go directly to support the youth flyfishing programs of the Liam Wood Flyfishing and River Guardian School.

Teacher evaluation packets should be ordered by Nov. 13

Faculty members should order their teacher evaluation packets by Nov. 13 for timely distribution campuswide.

Departments should return all unused teacher evaluation bubble sheets and comment sheets to the WWU Testing Center, otherwise incorrect forms may be mixed in with order.

Reminder: The Testing Center's scanning machines will not detect information submitted on photocopies of teacher evaluation bubble sheets. Pen markings also are not detected. Only No. 2 pencil markings can be read.
