BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s Extended Education and Summer Programs (EESP) will hold four new evening courses this fall that are open to everyone: Professional Editing For Print and Online; Writing Children’s Literature; and two advanced workshops for Web designers, The Business of Web Design and Cascading Style Sheets – Part 1.
The new courses will round out WWU’s fall offerings for community members, which include returning favorites such as Creating the Modern Memoir Certificate, Professional in Human Resources Certification Preparation, Project Management Professional courses, the Video Production Certificate, and the Web Design and Development Certificate.
Writers can gain valuable editing experience during the nine-month certificate program, Professional Editing For Print and Online. Participants will increase their copy editing and design skills to create professional quality results.
Another course for writers, Writing Children’s Literature, will encourage students to use their creativity to produce a work of their own. The class will range from the background and cultural beginnings of children’s literature, to the techniques of writing, including plot and character development, editing and revising.
Web designers can take their skills to the next level with Western’s advanced Web design workshops. The Business of Web Design is for individuals who want to explore the option of freelance work and provides information on how to form a business and find clients. The second advanced course is Cascading Style Sheets – Part 1, which covers coding problems and how to build a quality CSS-based Web page.
