Diane Flick earns 200th win at Western

Volleyball head coach Diane Flick received the 200th win in her WWU career Thursday. See the story below for more info.

Parking issues at Parks Hall today: please note

There will be a large delivery truck in the 19G parking lot next to Parks Hall this Friday.
The truck may be there all day, delivering materials for the fixed seating/tables project in lecture rooms Parks Hall 104 and 228, and Environmental Studies 100.
It will block the handicap parking spaces and several other parking spaces close to the building.

  • Bellingham economic development organization receives major grant
    A local small-business development group has received a major grant to continue its economic gardening program.
    The Center for Economic Vitality was awarded $330,860 from the U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration. The grant is going through Western Washington University, which supports the CEV.
    CEV Director Tom Dorr said the two-year grant will be targeted toward business development in rural Whatcom County and with four area Indian tribes - Nooksack, Lummi, Upper Skagit and Swinomish.

  • Volleyball: Flick reaches 200-win plateau
    Western Washington University head coach Diane Flick reached the 200 plateau in career victories in her 10th season as Western Washington University recorded a pair of sweeps Thursday in opening-day action at the Central Washington University Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
    The Vikings, ranked No. 21 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, improved to 5-1 as they defeated Walla Walla University 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 and Brigham Young Hawaii 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.

  • Western Gets Grant To Convert Cow Manure To Fuel
    Western Washington University’s Vehicle Research Institute has been awarded a $500,000 grant for turning cow manure into clean-burning bio-methane for vehicles.
    Part of the funding from the Department of Energy will go toward placing new engines in three buses used by Bellingham’s Bellair Charters.
