Parking issues at Parks Hall today: please note

There will be a large delivery truck in the 19G parking lot next to Parks Hall this Friday.
The truck may be there all day, delivering materials for the fixed seating/tables project in lecture rooms Parks Hall 104 and 228, and Environmental Studies 100.
It will block the handicap parking spaces and several other parking spaces close to the building.

  • Cross Country: Porter, teammates looking to take squad to new heights
Dial Sarah Porter's cell phone, and her outgoing message says if she can't answer it's because "I'm probably out running right now."
"Probably" might be an understatement. The All-American distance runner, who will be a junior at Western Washington this year, logs more miles in a week than most vehicles not taking daily north-south routes on I-5.
"125 miles," Porter said, stopping long enough for a phone interview from Hockinson, where she's staying with her parents and training this summer. "So I'm usually out running when people call."

  • Cow powered: WWU gets $500k grant for biomethane project
Researchers at Western Washington University have been awarded a $500,000 grant that will be used in a project that will turn manure from dairy cows into fuel that will power buses in Bellingham.
The Bellingham school’s Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) has been given the grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to expand the Biomethane for Transportation project at the school, which is researching turning dairy cow manure into a clean-burning biomethane fuel. Part of the money will install three new biomethane-powered engines in buses used by Bellair Charters of Bellingham.
