Summer travels Almost 39 years after she was last there on a Quaker mission, WWU's Marie Eaton, a faculty member in the Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, returned to Kenya this summer as part of the WWU contingent from the Center for Service Learning and other Western departments to participate in the Slum Doctor Programme's project at the Ombogo Girl's Academy in Homa. Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff today in memory of U. S. Army Specialist Dennis M. Williams, 24, of Federal Way, who died Aug. 25 in Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his military vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. |
