Hydrogen Road Tour makes WWU pitstop

Alternative fuel vehicles from (left to right) Toyota, Daimler, General Motors, Hyundai and Volkswagen were arrayed in Red Square Tuesday for the Hydrogen Road Tour, which began in Chula Vista, Calif., and ends today in Vancouver, B.C. EOO policies on 30-day review

The Equal Opportunity Office has posted for 30-day campus review the following policies:

  • POL-U1600.02 Providing Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination
  • POL-U1600.03 Accommodating Persons with Disabilities
  • POL-U1600.04 Preventing Sexual Harassment
  • POL-U1600.05 Implementing Affirmative Action Program

The four policies listed above were revised and pulled from one larger document. They have been reformatted to fit the Peabody style of policy writing that Western uses and are much more easily accessible on the university policy website in this new format. For more, see FAST Online.

  • Tour of hydrogen-fueled cars makes stop at WWU
The average observer wouldn't notice anything different about the dozen or so cars parked in Western Washington University's Red Square Tuesday, June 2.
On the outside they looked like shiny new models from big-name carmakers - Toyota, Honda and GM, to name a few - but under the hood the real difference was obvious. These were hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the combustion engine replaced by an electric motor powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
"We're thrilled," said Eric Leonhardt, director of WWU's Vehicle Research Institute. "It's a great opportunity for our students and for the community to see the potential future for vehicles."

  • McMillan back running a few causes
    Elizabeth McMillon
once "hated running," but now she finds herself thrilled at the prospect of joining 25,000 others for the first Rock 'n Roll Seattle Marathon. She only wishes she could have raised $25,000 to donate to cancer research. McMillon, a 26-year-old Western Washington University graduate student, is part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. It's a group of volunteers who not only commit to receiving training and coaching for events in running, cycling or triathlons, but also to raising funds for cancer research.
