BELLINGHAM - Pianist, composer and storyteller Michael Jones, author of "Artful Leadership," will come to Western Washington University's campus for a free program and interactive dialogue on creative leadership and how leadership skills which access the imagination can contribute to career development.
The free event, made possible by a grant from Target, will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room, and is open to the public. Seating is limited and tickets are available through the Performing Arts Center box office.
Jones, Senior Research Fellow at the James McGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland, will play piano, tell evocative stories and engage the audience in an interactive experience including dialogue on hopes and opportunities for now and the future.
On the same afternoon, Jones will meet with students, faculty and staff in a series of small-group discussions with music in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. In these hour-long meetings, participants will learn how to tap into their creativity to leverage their career potential and prepare for the modern workplace. There will be two meetings geared towards students at 1 and 4 p.m. and one meeting for staff and faculty at 3 p.m., although students may join if no other time is convenient.
