BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University's Journal of Educational Controversy has published its latest issue, "The Hidden Dimensions of Poverty: Rethinking Poverty and Education."
This issue examines the multifaceted dimensions of poverty and raises questions about the way society views individuals living below the poverty line. It questions how human service providers and educational practitioners view poverty, and how their perceptions may affect their work and relationships with those they serve. This special issue is dedicated to Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, who has written the prologue for the issue.
The Journal of Educational Controversy was first published in 2006 by WWU's Woodring College of Education. Its main purpose is to provide the public with a forum to discuss educational issues; each quarter a controversy is proposed and authors are invited to respond on the issue.
The Journal of Educational Controversy can be found online at http://www.wce.wwu.edu/Resources/CEP/eJournal.
