Contact: Michael Medler, Huxley College of the Environment, (360) 650-3173

BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University's Huxley College of the Environment will present "Green Airport Education" as part of its colloquium series at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 10, in Communications Facility room 125.

This presentation will discuss how Huxley environmental educators collaborated with Sea-Tac International Airport for the past year to create educational exhibits and programs for airport visitors and staff.  Their goals were to educate the public about Sea-Tac's achievements in reducing carbon emissions, waste stream and energy use via their Green Airport Initiative and to encourage and empower individuals to reduce environmental impacts in daily life.  Huxley students and airport staff will describe the collaboration and showcase the resulting educational projects.

This event is free and open to the public.  Anyone interested in this issue is encouraged to attend; this presentation will provide an opportunity to address the issue and will include a question-and-answer period.

The colloquium series is held by Western's Department of Environmental Studies to bring together the environmental studies / science community and other interested members of the WWU and Bellingham communities.  Speakers address topics of contemporary environmental concern in the region and the world.
