Microsoft Office 2007/2008 compatibility packs available for Windows and Macintosh: Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows and Microsoft Office 2008 for Macintosh have a new file format, and files created in those programs cannot be opened by prior versions of Office. A new compatibility pack for Office 2004 for Macintosh is now available along with the compatibility pack for Office 2000/XP/2003 for Windows. These packs enable prior versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel to open files saved in the new formats. Users of Microsoft Office suites prior to Office 2007 or Office 2008 are encouraged to install the compatibility packs.
