BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University will offer a Web Design and Development Level 1: HTML to Worldpress course beginning Jan. 9 that will teach participants how to develop and maintain websites and how to use database-driven web capabilities.

Students will be introduced to web design with an emphasis on essential markup language and WordPress. In the first half of the quarter, students will create a simple multi-page website using HTML and CSS, and the second half will focus on the use of WordPress to expand the student’s toolkit for more advanced web publishing skills.

The course is ideal for people who envision themselves starting their own businesses; marketing products online; designing, developing or maintaining one or more websites; or seeking employment and career skills in a web-design field.

The course is a hybrid course with weekly face-to-face sessions and corresponding online resources and assignments. This course also provides the option for participants to earn two optional Western credits.
